Summer in Sarasota, Florida and the surrounding area guarantees at least one thing: hot and humid weather, which inevitably leads to higher energy bills from increased air conditioning costs.
With everyone looking for ways to keep the summer air conditioning bills manageable, we decided to bring you a list of the top interactive online tools you can use to lower your energy use and save money!
Check out these great energy-saving online resources:
From Florida Power and Light Company (FPL), this online interactive tool uses your Sarasota area home’s account information to give you personal energy-saving advice.
It not only gives you a breakdown of how much money you are spending on each of your home appliances, (including for air conditioning, water heating and laundry) but also helps you develop a personal plan to save energy.
Using the information form FPL’s Online Home Energy Survey, you can find countless ways to reduce your energy bill and cut your air conditioning costs.
Also from FPL, this interactive online tool lets you browse through energy-saving tips room-by-room. Once you click “launch the tour”, you will start on the outside where you learn that double-pane windows can help you reduce the amount of heat entering your home, which reduces your air conditioning costs.
From there, you can choose to navigate to other rooms in the house using the links on the top of the page. Each room has tips to help reduce your carbon footprint and save money on lower energy bills.
Home Energy Saver is an online tool from the U.S. Department of Energy. While this resource is similar to the Online Home Energy Survey from FPL, it differs in that it does not require you to log in to your account.
Instead, you will be walked through a series of in-depth questions about your house, your appliances, and your current energy use. Based on your answers to these questions, Home Energy Saver will give you a list of recommended actions you can take to cut your air conditioning and energy costs.
